Key Highlights
The brief was to copy something. That was declined
The original ask was to clone an existing disk-cleanup product exactly. That was turned down on trademark grounds and rebuilt instead as an original app matching the same feature set under its own branding, in a category that already has several players.
Compiled, launched, then deadlocked
The app ran with a working interface, but the scan pipeline deadlocked under load partway through end-to-end testing. That bug was mid-fix and unverified when the entire project directory was deleted. Nothing shipped.
A native Mac disk cleaner, built rather than cloned
A Mac app for visualising and reclaiming disk space, scanning a folder tree and rendering it as a list, treemap, sunburst, ranked sizes and an age map, with a duplicate finder and a staged queue that deleted nothing until explicitly emptied.
How a clean-up ran
The path a person actually takes through it, start to finish.
Pick a folder to scan
The tree is scanned with live progress
Switch between list, treemap, sunburst and age views
Inspect a file’s real size on disk
Stage files and commit the batch deliberately
